Overview
What this node is doing right now. StudyBox apps signed in to it can use it for three things, each turned on separately in the app (Settings, Node): processing (scanning uploaded materials for questions and topics), AI (grading, lessons, explanations, reading aloud) and storage (keeping your library here so every device has it).

Connect the StudyBox app
- In StudyBox, open Settings → Node.
- Enter this node's address:
- Sign in with your user name and password here. Then pick what the node does for you: processing, AI, voice, storage. Anything you leave off keeps running on your own computer.
Models
Models are the AI programs the node runs on its own hardware. Each says whether this computer can run it well. Installing downloads it once; after that it runs with no internet and costs nothing. You need one AI model (for grading, lessons and reading pages). A voice reads lessons aloud.

Other Ollama model
Advanced: any model from the Ollama library by its tag (e.g. llama3.2-vision:11b).
StudyBox only promises the models above work for every feature.
API keys
Hosted models (Claude, GPT, Gemini) run on the provider's servers and are paid per use with an API key from that provider. Add yours here and the node offers those models in your app. Your key is used only for your own requests and is stored encrypted on the node. Admins can also share a key with everyone on the node.

My devices
Every StudyBox app and browser signed in as you. Remove one you no longer use, or one you don't recognise; it will have to sign in again.
Change password
Changing it signs out your other devices.
People
Who can use this node. People who ask to join wait here until you approve them. Each person's library and keys are their own; nobody else on the node can see them.

Help
What is a node?
StudyBox works on its own, on one computer. A node is a computer (often a home server) that does the heavy work for StudyBox apps on other computers: a laptop without a graphics card can use the node's, and every device you sign in on sees the same library.
Processing
When you upload slides, homework or a textbook, StudyBox reads them to find questions and topics. That work can run on the node instead of your computer.
AI and voices
The AI grades your work, writes lessons and explains answers. It can be a model installed here (free, private, needs a decent graphics card) or a hosted one with an API key (fast, paid per use). A voice model reads lessons aloud.
Storage
With storage on, your library lives here and every device you sign in on keeps a copy in step with it. You can work on several devices at once and offline; changes sync when a device is back online. Large files download when you open their class, so a small laptop doesn't need the whole library.
Why is something slow?
The graphics card runs one request at a time. When several people use the node, requests take turns, and a card that switches between the AI model and a voice model spends some seconds loading each. The app says when you're waiting and why.
Reaching the node from outside your home
The node only listens on its own port. To use it away from home, put it behind something that gives it a secure address: a VPN like Tailscale or WireGuard on the server, or a reverse proxy with HTTPS (Caddy, nginx). Don't open its port to the internet without HTTPS: passwords would travel unencrypted.
